Special Drainage District Vacancies

COUNCIL-APPOINTED SPECIAL DISTRICT BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS VACANCIES

The Whatcom County Council makes appointments. Applicants must be property owners in the district, and registered voters in the State of Washington.  Terms expire and all positions will be subject to election at the special district general election of February 2018 or February 2020.  For more term information, call the Election Division of the County Auditor’s Office at 778-5100.

Applicants may complete and submit an application online.  Applications may also be downloaded from the County website or are available in the Council Office at the Whatcom County Courthouse, 311 Grand Ave., Ste. 105, Bellingham, or by phone at 360-778-5010.
The County Council will make appointments at a regular County Council meeting in the County Council Chambers, 311 Grand Avenue, Bellingham. 

DRAINAGE DISTRICTS

Duties include field review of drainage needs, attending an annual meeting to determine the next year’s work schedule and assessment levy, elect internal officers, and review, discuss, or act on any other official and district business.  (RCW 85.06 and RCW 85.38.170 and .180)

Consolidated Drainage Improvement District #20 
1 vacancy, Supervisor Position 3. Appointed term will expire at the special district general election of February 2020. District boundary generally encompasses the area east/southeast  of the City of Lynden, north of the Nooksack River,  and includes Kamm Ditch and Morman Ditch drainage areas.

Drainage Improvement District #6 
1 vacancy, Supervisor Position 1. Appointed term will expire at the special district general election of February 2018. District boundary generally encompasses the area located midway between Lynden and Ferndale and bounded and/or transected by portions of W. Pole, Old Guide, King Tut, Aldrich, and Woodlyn Roads.  Unnamed tributary ditch to Cougar Creek/Nooksack River is the primary channel.

Drainage Improvement District #7 
1 vacancy, Supervisor Position 1. Appointed term will expire at the special district general election of February 2018. District boundary generally includes the lowland area of the California Creek watershed in the Custer area.  The District includes areas east and west of I-5 and stretches from the Grandview Road area on the south to the Birch Bay-Lynden Road area to the north.
