Roberts Road/Anderson Creek Bridge No. 249 Replacement Project

Bridge No. 249 over Anderson Creek on Roberts Road will be replaced with a new pre-stressed concrete slab or girder bridge with a reinforced concrete substructure. Due to rot discovered in the existing bridge's timber caps, Whatcom County was awarded $1,484,161 in federal Bridge Replacement Advisory Committee (BRAC) funds to use toward the bridge replacement. The total project cost is estimated to be $1,951,200.

The engineering consultant, KPFF Engineers, is currently under contract and has begun preliminary design work.

Construction will begin in the summer of 2018 and will last approximately 4-6 months.

The proposed detour during construction will be to temporarily re-open the currently closed section of Roberts Road between Martin Road and Central Road. This section of road would be closed again once construction is completed.
