Work Party Opportunities

Looking for an opportunity to volunteer?  Think about joining a Whatcom County Parks & Recreations trail work party.  



A work party is a scheduled trail maintenance or development project lead by park staff. Don't worry you don't need to be an expert or have tools. Our staff will provide the training and equipment you need to have a great experience. You will learn planning and construction skills, how to identify and remove invasive species, and how to plant native flora and fauna.

Register Now July 22, 2017 Lake Whatcom Park Volunteer Work Party: Sponsored by REI
Dig into new trail with local REI staff and volunteers. The plan for today is to clear the next section of trail and start digging in the tread.

Hiking Information:  The project site is close to the road and only a short hike over moderate terrain is necessary.

Schedule:
8:30 am - Meet at the trailhead, gather for a safety briefing and then head to the work site.
Noon - Bring your own lunch and we will eat on the trail
3:00 pm - Wrap up

For safety and access reasons, arriving late or leaving early is not allowed. Please plan to stay all day.

Activities include clearing brush, debris and logs, digging out trail tread, and building a variety of rock and wood structures as needed.

Join with local REI staff and volunteers to complete overlook improvements at the end of our new trail. Activities include clearing brush, debris and logs, moving rock and installing wood structures as needed.
