Things to Know

If you have not had a CPL before or if your CPL has been expired for more than ninety (90) days, the following information applies to you.

How to Apply

  • Call the WCSO at (360) 778-6600 to make an appointment for you to be fingerprinted for your CPL.  You must have your fingerprints taken at the WCSO for a WCSO issued CPL.  Click here to view fingerprint appointment times.
  • Complete and submit a CPL application which will be given to you at the time of your appointment.
  • Pay applicable fee.

What to Bring to Your Appointment

  • Valid, not expired, photo ID like
    • A current Washington State driver’s license.
    • A current Washington State identification card.
    • Equivalent out of state identification.
  • Expired CPL (if you still have)
  • Copy of Restoration of Firearms Rights (if applicable)
  • Permanent Resident Card (if applicable)

Processing of Your CPL Application

  • WCSO staff performs federal, state, and local background checks.
  • Processing time can take up to thirty (30) days.
