  1. 2015 Whatcom County Charter Review Commission

    In 1978, voters elected to approve a home rule charter to govern Whatcom County.

  2. Address & Road Name Citizen Appeals Committee

    The committee considers and decides appeals of address numbering, road name assignments and corrections among many other things. Council appointed.

  3. Agricultural Advisory Committee

    The Agricultural Advisory Committee provides review and recommendations to the Whatcom County Council on issues that affect agriculture. Executive appointed.

  4. Americans With Disabilities Act Compliance

    The committee meets periodically to provide guidance to the County regarding making its facilities and programs accessible to those with disabilities. Executive appointed.

  5. Behavioral Health Advisory Committee

    The Board shall serve in an advisory capacity to the Whatcom County Health Department, advising on general priorities for behavioral health programs, including substance abuse and mental health services. Executive appointed.

  6. Bicycle / Pedestrian Advisory Committee

    The Bicycle / Pedestrian Advisory Committee's purpose is to assist the county in the planning, funding, development and implementation of facilities and programs that will result in the increased safety and use of bicycle and pedestrian travel as a significant and beneficial mode of transportation and recreation.

  7. Birch Bay Shellfish Protection District Advisory

    The Advisory Committee advises the County Council on the proposed actions and operations relating to the restoration of water quality in Birch Bay. Council appointed.

  8. Birch Bay Watershed & Aquatic Resources Management

    The Committee will represent the residents of the subzone and make recommendations to the Board of Supervisors regarding the implementation of the Birch Bay Watershed and Aquatic Resource Management (BBWARM) District stormwater program. Council appointed.

  9. Board of Equalization

    The Board of Equalization hears property tax appeals and complaints regarding the Assessor´s property value determination. Council appointed.

  10. Boundary Review Board

    The Board makes decisions concerning boundary changes, including annexation, specific water sewer extensions, incorporations, dissolutions and disincorporations of jurisdictions and creations, partial mergers and consolidations of special purpose districts. Executive appointed.

  11. Commission Against Domestic Violence

    The Commission develops and implements a coordinated comprehensive domestic violence plan that is monitored, evaluated and updated on a regular basis. Executive appointed.

  12. Civil Service Commission

    The Commission creates and administers the rules and regulations for personnel administration in the County Sheriff´s office. Executive appointed.

  13. County Appeals Board

    The County Appeals Board receives and rules on appeals from administrative decisions concerning specific codes and ordinances. Executive appointed.

  14. Critical Areas Citizens' Advisory Committee

    The purpose of the Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC) is to advise staff, the Planning Commission, and the County Council on potential policy or code amendments. Executive appointed.

  15. Critical Areas Technical Advisory Committee

    The purpose of the Critical Areas Technical Advisory Committee is to make recommendations to the CAC, Planning Commission, and Council based on science, among other things.
