Completed Development Projects

  1. Bay Horizon Playground

    In October 2010, Parks & Recreation, in partnership with the Northwest Parks & Recreation District #2, replaced the aging jungle gym and replaced it with new playground equipment.

  2. Hovander Homestead Park Roof Replacements

    This spring several structures at Hovander Homestead Park are scheduled to have roofs replaced. The roofs will be replaced with like roofs to maintain the character of these historically registered buildings.

  4. Hovander River Trail

    The new Hovander River Trail segment offers river views from the northern parking area near the boat launch to the southern end of the park near Slater Road. The trail was completed in 2014 and accommodates walkers and bicyclists.

  6. Lighthouse Boat Launch Renovation

  7. Lily Point Marine Park

    Whatcom County Parks and Recreation acquired this property in 2008 with the assistance of The Nature Conservancy and Whatcom Land Trust. The park, located in Point Roberts, has more than 275 acres with 1.4 miles of saltwater shoreline along Boundary Bay. Park improvements included a trailhead with parking and restrooms, trails through forested uplands, viewpoints and shoreline access. .

  8. Samish Park Playground Replacement

    Nestled in the Chuckanut Mountains between the lakeshore and densely forested slopes is Samish Lake Park. The park had over 60,000 visitors last year and the 30 year old playground is a very popular amenity with children. The new playground will have improved accessibility and feature a modern playground structure that blends well with the natural lakeside setting.
