The Food Safety Program is responsible for permitting and inspecting retail food establishments in Whatcom County such as restaurants, caterers, grocery stores, school cafeterias and mobile food vendors.
The Solid Waste Management Division of the Health Department is responsible for waste prevention, economically efficient recycling and disposal systems, litter control, hazardous waste education and disposal opportunities, and the monitoring of the county's closed landfills.
The Environmental Health Division's Solid Waste Program performs a wide variety of activities to monitor and assure the proper handling and disposal of solid waste in Whatcom County.
