East Smith Road Paving Continues; Roundabout Converted to Four-Way Stop

Our contractor, Granite Construction, will prelevel and continue paving East Smith Road Aug. 3-7 between Hannegan Road and SR 542 (Mt. Baker Highway). Preleveling is the process of applying a base layer of asphalt. Drivers should expect long delays during this work but no more road closures.

  • 8/3 - Preleveling East bound lane of E. Smith Rd. from Hannegan Rd. to Everson-Goshen Rd.
  • 8/4 - Preleveling East bound lane from Everson-Goshen Rd. to Sand Rd.
  • 8/5 - Preleveling East and West bound lanes from Sand Rd. to SR-542 (whatever hasn’t already been preleveled).
  • 8/6 - Preleveling West bound lane from Sand Rd. to Everson-Goshen Rd.
  • 8/7 - Preleveling West bound lane from Everson-Goshen Rd. to Hannegan Rd.

Expect to see more "Abrupt Lane Edge" signs along the project area. Motorcycles should use extreme caution in these areas.

A culvert has been replaced between Sand Road and SR 542 and the intersection of Everson-Goshen Road and East Smith has been converted from a roundabout back to a four-way stop. We appreciate everyone’s patience while we do this important work!
